By Obeying and applying Joshua 1:8-9 into your life, you will see victory come alive in all areas of our life. Joshua 1:8  “This book of the law shall not  depart  out  of  thy  mouth; but thou shalt  meditate  therein  day  and  night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make  thy way  prosperous, and then thou shalt have good  success”. We are going to study 5 key words out of Joshua 1:8 meditate, observe, written, prosperous, and success.  We will close out with a brief statement with Joshua 1:9 with the effects of applying the five key words.

Meditate
Meditate in this verse means two words: meditate (to focus one's thoughts on or ponder over) and muse (to become absorbed in thought; especially: to think about something carefully and thoroughly). This means we need to stop, think, listen, and open our heart to what the Lord is trying to say to us. Meditating is giving room for the Holy Spirit to enlighten us to what the scripture is saying to us, it then  enlightens us to start obeying the truth of it.  Look at Psalms 1:2; 119:15; these will give a clear understanding on the importance of meditating.  Matthew 6:33 has the word seek which means to find out or meditate on his kingdom. These scriptures point toward to a victorious life.

Observe
Observe - to take notice; to conform one's action or practice to (as a law, rite, or condition): comply with; to come to realize or know especially through consideration of noted facts.  After you meditate on the word start  observing the truth of what you’re studying. I would observe Jesus.  He sets the best examples to the way of the truth. Read John 14:6, it clearly states he is the way, truth and light.  Take heed and look into the prophets in the old testament and see what the Lord told them. This will teach you what happens when you follow him or you don’t follow him. The best example of this is the book of Jonah and it’s not a long book.  Observing will help you choose the direction to become victorious.

Written
The bible was written for us in four ways: (1) natural so, we can refer back to what we meditate on and observed in truth. (2) Spiritually, we write the word of God on our hearts.(3) It was written on our hearts to  identify what was good for us and (4) to prevent us from stumbling over the wrong ways of life. God promised he would write his laws on our hearts Jeremiah 31:33 and Hebrews 8:10.  Now the written word on our hearts will push us to stay in the direction of that victorious life.

Prosperous
Prosperous here means: to make  prosperous, bring to successful issue, cause us to prosper.  I call this walking in a victorious life.  Let’s point out some prosperous areas. Psalms 25:12-14 His covenant leads us to prosperity. James 4:7  Submitting to God’s word: we can tell the devil to flee and obtain victory over our problems. 1Peter 2:24 By Jesus’ stripes we are healed, victory over sickness. John 3:16 knowing Jesus is getting to live for ever.  This says  prosperous means obtaining that victorious life.

Success
Success here means: to prosper, have success. Let’s see the evidence of  success.  Habakkuk 2:1-3 and Acts 20:24 means your works of the Lord will be a complete success when obeying. Jesus set the best example of success in three ways: (1) by abiding in the Father John 15:10,(2) he did what he saw the Father do John 5:19, and (3) when he conquered death at the cross and arose again. This means by abiding in him we will have a successful victorious life.

I will now close with Joshua 1:9,it says this: be strong, not afraid, nor  dismayed, and I will be with you.   Jesus says in John 14:27 the same thing.  Why is this so Important? If you truly live out Joshua 1:8 with these key words you will not be afraid and Jesus is with you to live out the victorious life he has planned for you.
