Hindrances to Your Faith

Some time back I wrote to you about hindrances to your healing. Today, the Lord is telling me to write, so I thought I’d write about hindrances to your faith. I recently taught this to my discipleship class at Victory Family Church in Perryton, Texas.

We basically talked about things that that hinder our faith. Ignorance of the Word of God and not hearing the Word be preached are big hindrances to developing a faith life.  Another thing is you telling your problems to God instead of telling your problems about how big your God is (Matt 17: 20) and that’s another teaching all together.  Probably the biggest problem is trying to believe while also having unbelief in you. Faith and unbelief are opposing forces. You need to know that it doesn’t take great faith to get what you are believing for. It only takes a mustard seed sized faith to do mighty things.

Most Christians are more full of unbelief than they are faith. Actually, as a born again Christians, we have all the faith we need.  Roman 12: 3 reads, “For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he out to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.” This says that we have THE measure of faith. Notice it doesn’t say “A” measure of faith.

Galatians 2: 16 reads, “Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.” This might be surprising to you, but the measure we received from our Father God is THE SAME MEASURE that Jesus had!

The faith movement of the 70’s - 90’s taught us to grow our faith, but my thought on this is that you can’t grow His faith, but you can grow INTO what has already been put in you by God. As a born again Christian, you already have all the faith you need, you just need to use what you have.  Another scripture that shows this is Galatians 3:22, “But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.”

We receive salvation by faith in Jesus, but once you are saved we get a special gift (grace). THE FAITH OF Jesus. This is the reason that Jesus said with such assurity that the works He did we Would Do. We have the same equipment that Jesus had. We have the same gifts, the same Holy Spirit, the same power and the same FAITH that he had.

The church of today is basically powerless, for they have no idea of who they are, what they have, and what they can do because of what Jesus did for them. In most Christians, the faith of Jesus goes unused and idle because of ignorance. Please don’t get offended. Ignorance means they just DON’T KNOW.  Our pulpits have put out more doubt and unbelief than Good News! More Christians believe they are unworthy, black-hearted worms than believe they are the Holy, Righteous, Powerful sons and daughters of the Most High God. Jesus took care of the sin problem, the unrighteous problem, and the powerless problem. The large amount of doubt and unbelief in most believers is what has overwhelmed the faith that was placed in us the instance we were born again.

Folks, we need to search the scriptures for what God has already done. Remember it is a finished work. Separate yourself from the doubt preachers to destroy doubt in your life. Begin to utilize the faith that is already there. Grow INTO the faith that is yours and become Doers of the Word (James 1:22)

As you do this, you’ll begin to take possession of His faith and become life Peter in Acts 3:6, “…such as I have give I thee..” You are full of his faith, his works, his power - now go use it!
