The Lordship of Jesus

10/13/2019

To understand the Lordship of Jesus, let's take a look at what the dictionary says about the word Lord.
According to Webster's New World college dictionary 4th edition, the word Lord basically means one having great power and authority; a ruler, a master. So, let's talk about making Jesus that Lord with all of his power and authority.
Many of us hear talk about trusting in Jesus and we don't dig in to really understand what this means for us. For many, words like that seem real but only for others, and not themselves. This is primarily because they think they have already done so many bad things that God would never want to spend time with them or do anything for them. That is a lie the enemy has sold folks generations over, and the people have bought into it, hook, line, and sinker.  And still do to this day.
Listen, if you are one of those that thinks that way, let me tell you that just the opposite of that is true. Gods tender mercies are renewed everyday the word says. So there's no excuse, just open your heart to God, invite Jesus in and simply say, show me Lord, teach me.
There are tons of things we can trust to Jesus and I want to talk about a few of those things in this blog today.
Trusting anything to Jesus is in fact making him the Lord of your life in that area.  When you begin to see  the Lordship of Jesus, how victorious he can make you in one area, you'll begin to open up in other areas. So, if you've never made Jesus the Lord of your life, start with these areas.  As an added note, look up the extra scriptures and read them out loud (faith comes by hearing). When you stay focused on these scriptures, you increase the strength of your foundation (why you are believing in this stuff in the first place), and you increase your strength to continue to believe in the Lord and his word.
  1. Salvation: John 3:16 / John 10:10 / Galatians 3:13
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotton Son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
If you have believed on Jesus, you are currently trusting your salvation to Jesus. You are trusting that when it comes time for you to cross over, that Jesus will be there and will lead you in the sweet by and by.  And you can and should believe this even in the rotten here and now, AMEN.
Coincidentally, standing on the word, trusting your everything to Jesus  happens in this same way.
  2. Freedom from sin and shame: Romans 8: 1 (read through verse 6)
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
You make Jesus Lord of your life when you believe and live your life according to the things of God, like when making your decisions, the Lord will nudge you which way to go. Those without Jesus, will continually make wrong choices because they don't have Jesus in their heart. Even for those who do, they may stop at salvation thinking that's all there is to this God stuff. But that is just so far from the truth. God will always be there to help you, but you must come to him.
  3. Blessed & Prosperous Life: Proverbs 10:22 / Psalm 23 / 3 John: 2
The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.
Just about anybody can describe the difference between a blessed life and a cursed life. Make sure you know the difference. If you need help with that just look at Deuteronomy 28: 1 - 14 to see what a blessed life looks like and then look at verses 15 - 68 to see what a cursed life looks like.
Yeah, I bet you want that blessed life, too. So, when you trust your personal decisions like who you should marry, hang out with, where you should live, and work, to Jesus, he will bring you into that blessed life and man what a life! Give it a try. For a really good look at a blessed life, be sure to read the 23rd Psalm. With all the drama that has plagued our world, who doesn't need some peaceful and still waters in their life, right!
  4. Victorious Life: 1 John 4: 4 / 2 Corinthians 2: 14
Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
We cannot defeat this mortal enemy of ours on our own. It takes having Jesus in your heart, his word in your heart, in your mouth, and in your hand (to wield as a sword) and you must know how to use it. This takes time to learn these things, to learn to trust Jesus and his word so start today.  Trusting your life to Jesus will not remove challenges, trials or tribulations from your life as the church once taught. I don't know, maybe by and large some denominations still does. But that is ignorance, it's pure foolishness to teach that or to believe it.  To see why I say this, look at Ephesians chapter 6, read about the weapons of our warfare. Now, why would God put that in his word if we didn't need them? Exactly!!! Learning the word and trusting Jesus to perform his word will always-always-always cause you to triumph in Jesus' name. In Jesus, you can truly say, I love a good challenge and say it with the expectation and full assurance that you will win every time.
Jesus is neither overbearing nor dictatorial in mannerisms.  He will not push himself on you or anybody else.  You must go to him. Starting a life in Jesus may seem daunting but really it isn't when you take it one step at a time, one day at  a time. Dismiss thoughts that you can't obtain the things of God or that it's too late in your life to do this. It isn't. We are here to help you not only get going, but to help keep you going.
