There are multitudes of Christians that walk around fearful of losing their salvation. The reason for this is that for generations there has been legalistic teachers and preachers that have preached that you can lose your salvation if you sin.
They have taken the above scripture to mean that you can lose salvation for even the slightest transgressions. My brothers and sisters, let us settle this question once and for all. Your salvation is not based on whether you sin or not, it is based on God’s love and His grace. 2 Corinthians 5:19 reads 19) To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto Himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. Sin is not what keeps a person out of heaven; it is unbelief. Unbelief in Jesus is the ticket to hell, not sin. Reference John 16:7-11. According to verse 9, the only sin the people of the world will be judged on is the sin of not believing on Jesus. John 3:reads 18) He that believeth on him is not condemned; but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. Jesus took care of the sin problem for the world. Why can’t we see that as Christians our sin was also taken care of? Was Jesus’ precious blood powerful enough to save us, but weak now that we are Christians? Has His blood lost its power? Has it been diluted and weakened for the Christian? ABSOLUTELY NOT. Sin is no match for God’s grace. Grace will overpower sin any time, any place, any way. Glory! The Christian who walks in sin does not lose heaven, but he will walk in a lot of hell while on earth. We must understand that whatever a man sows that is what he will reap. Back to Gal 5:4. It says that you are fallen from grace, if you get into the law (legalism). You don’t lose your salvation: you simply step outside the benefits of God’s grace. If God’s grace can be earned or won, then it ceases to be grace. My brothers and sisters, please stop failing to be partakers of God’s grace. There is so much to be done in this world before Jesus can return. You have been declared righteous; you have been declared innocent. You have been declared a child of God. Quit calling God a liar and start accepting what God has done in you through Jesus. If you will begin thinking on the things of God, especially what God’s Word says about you, then you will begin to change. God’s image of you will begin to manifest in you the more you think and meditate on it. Quit listening to the devil’s lies about you. Begin to accept what God says about you. The less you worry about falling into sin, the less you will. Quit dwelling on your sins and your past. Spend all of your time thinking of Jesus’ past and your future. My suggestion to you, at this point, is seek God’s grace. Receive (take) His grace; then, begin to grow in His grace. Doc Sharp
