The next Motivational Gift we’ll talk about is Organization – Ruler.
How many of you feel like you are an organized person? Do you delegate responsibility well? This may be your gift. A. This person is a leader, they set goals, they are well organized, and is not afraid to delegate responsibilities to others. This person helps make the fellowship flow smoother. They lead by working with and through others. They like to see the work spread around and wants to see the body of Christ busy about the Father’s business. B. Characteristics 1. Ability to see overall picture and can clarify long range goals 2. They are motivated to organize that which he is in charge of 3. They don’t put off work, they like to work to get things done in a timely manner 4. They have an awareness of resources available to complete tasks 5. Has the ability to delegate – this is not natural ability. In other words, it’s done in love verses ordering people around 6. This ruler doesn’t volunteer for things to do, they have to be asked 7. If no one is leading, they will take over the project and see it finished 8. Can take criticism 9. Enjoys seeing all the pieces come together 10. Needs more challenges 11. Organized at church; not necessarily at home C. Misunderstandings 1. Appears lazy because of delegating ability 2. May appear hard (callus) because they endure flack very well 3. Usually doesn’t explain well. Workers may feel “used” 4. Views workers as resources (their skills, talents, knowledge, etc) 5. Works people too hard D. Example of a Ruler – Nehemiah He directed the rebuilding of the wall of Jerusalem. Set time schedule as seen in Neh 2:6. He motivated people to work, Neh 2: 17-18. And in Nehemiah chapter three, it shows different people organized into different jobs. Read the whole book of Nehemiah; it’s 13 chapters but it will give you a good overall picture of this gift in operation.
